Hi, I’m a 1999 Ford F-150 and I still look pretty good for my age. My owner has me detailed and waxed every 6 months to keep me looking great – he’s a good man. Next time you’re driving by Xpress Window Tint, pull in and maybe your owner will get the hint! Maybe I’ll see you there.

Most areas have an abundance of tint shop choices, but how does one choose the tint shop that does quality work? What is the difference anyway? Does it really matter? Isn't the lowest price all that matters?

I suggest you compare the area shops and even ask your friends where they had their windows tinted before deciding on where to go. Call all the closest shops and get a price quote that includes installation. Once you have the cost to weigh, consider what you'll get for your money.
Once you have this it's time to compare each dealer against the following quality list:

- How long have they been in business?
- How many years experience does the installer have?

Basically, you should find a tint shop that has been in business for 5 or more years. This provides some sense of stability and patronage.

- What types of films do they carry?

Quality tint shops carry multiple types of films from a variety of film manufacturers. These types should include dyed, hybrid, and metallic window films in a variety of colors and darknesses. Be cautious of tint shops that only carry one or two types of film, these may have been acquired on sale and are of low quality.

- What warranty do they offer on their work?

The warranty on tint varies depending on the window film you choose. However, the film and labor should generally be guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle. You should also choose a film grade that guarantees the color and fading.

Remember, illegal tint automatically nullifies any manufacturer's warranty.

- Can you visit the tint shop before having work done? Will they show you a sample of their work when you are there?

You can't tell anything by looking at a Yellow Pages ad or talking to the shop on the phone. Ask them for a pre-decision visit and tell them you want to see an example of their work while you are there.

Good tint shops pay attention to customer service and will be happy and willing to spend the time to talk to you and explain how their shops work.

A tint shop's work area should be indoors and clean. Their tools and window films are organized in a professional manner. If the tint shop is outdoors or in a parking lot, this is a negative since it is critical to remove all dust and dirt from the windows before applying window film.

Now take a look at a car they have already tinted. Pay attention to side-windows. The window film should be applied to the inside and be completely flush against all 4 edges of the window. Now look at the window film itself. Don't worry if the film itself looks slightly streaky and discolored, window film takes a couple weeks to dry out and become completely clear. If there are bubbles of air under the film or the film itself is not complete flat against the window, this is a sure sign of sloppy tinting.

Finally, take a look at the rear window. Is the window film applied in a single piece or is it cut into strips that surround the defroster lines? The most skilled tint shops always apply film in a single piece.

After you make your decision, make an appointment with an exact date and time for the tinting.

X-press Yourself While Protecting Your Investment

X-press Glass Tinting offers “Lifetime Warranty” on all auto, boat, home, and commercial tinting installations. Eddie Russell began his career in window tinting and automotive accessory installation over 15 years ago. Last year he moved his business to 414 East Race Street in Kingston (376-1510) and added complete car wash and professional detailing services.

Eddie is a professional who cares about his work. Although his installations meet or exceed the industry’s IWFA standards, the installations first have to meet his own high expectations. He knows that a professionally installed, top quality window tint will look better and last longer. Eddie uses only high performance film that is warranted not to turn purple, bubble or fade, applied in a single strip. The solar guard films used by X-press Tint are proven to block harmful UV rays.

X-press Glass Tint does a tremendous business in residence, houseboat, and commercial business tinting. People are beginning to understand the savings in heat and air cost and how protection from the sun will save carpets, furnishings, and automotive interiors.

Window tint will add an attractive appearance to your home, boat, vehicle, or business. Interiors protected by window tint can be up to 60% cooler, colors will stay brighter longer, and fabrics and leather will resist cracking and fading longer. Window tint is really a small investment that protects your larger investments.
